At the same time, they still carry much of the weight of everyday life. By keeping women out of decision-making, we all lose. We deprive our societies of vital collective intelligence, at a time when it’s needed most.There can be no thriving future without the full participation of women.
That is why World With Women exists: to make gender equality real. Here, now, and everywhere.
ICELAND AS A SOURCE OF INSPIRATION
In 1975, women in Iceland made up just 5% of parliament and earned on average 60% of men’s wages. For one day, 90% of Icelandic women went on strike, at work and at home. It worked.
Since then, Iceland has become the most gender-equal country in the world.It is also one of the happiest, with strong environmental protection. This is no coincidence. Equality, environment, and well-being are deeply connected.
Across the world, in South America, Canada, South Africa, whenever women have united, the world has shifted.

At the current pace, it will take another 300 years to achieve political equality between women and men, and 134 years to achieve economic equality. We no longer have time to wait.
This imbalance fuels the crises we are living through — climate, geopolitical, social, democratic. And yet decisions continue to be made by people who share similar life experiences.
Gender balance is the foundation for taking every reality into account, avoiding blind spots, and gaining the clarity needed to resolve these crises. Women — half of humanity — can no longer be excluded from the places where collective priorities are decided.
On October 13, we march because there is urgency. The world can no longer do without half of humanity.
Women’s rights are not only a matter of justice: they are the condition for a better future for everyone.
For the planet, peace, and the future. Against all forms of violence.
World with Women is a non-partisan and non-religious movement, founded by a collective leadership of women and men committed to gender balance across all sectors, in France and internationally. With horizontal governance and no single president, the movement is carried collectively — everyone can make it their own and carry it forward in their own way.
World with Women! calls for global cohesion among all stakeholders (associations, organizations, unions, businesses, schools and universities, administrations, media) across every sector, to join us and get involved.
